The bonus to crafted structures is nice too but not a major selling point. Now I just avoid the weight traits to get athletic; but for combat characters I'm going fire officer all the way now. Organized also increases storage size of backpacks and shelving and whatnot. I don't understand why people like it. When you want to be a peace-loving character, it makes you less likely to kill zombies with a weapon, but it's a nice trait to debuff your character with. Then again it isnt the worst thing in the world to only be restricted to large houses at the start of the game. I imagine most players that die in combat die because they weren't backing away fast enough. I'd also like to hear your opinions on the traits, and whether I'm wrong in my judgement of any of the perks lol. In order to survive, you do have to put in a little more effort, but you earn more points in return. Sleepyhead 1/5. Don't eat spoiled food. Cannot take Wakeful, and also has the opposite effect of Wakeful. Gymnast is S tier just like athletic. No brainer. Can't add to the post as i am newbut thank you:-). Don't bother. If youre being stealthy you can generally avoid getting into danger but youre right. Not bad per se, just not worth the points. The critical chance of attacks is capped between 10% and 90%. Can be overcome when you build up your stealth skills. Consider stout and fit if you don't have the points. The combo costs 2 points net for 1 str, 1 axe and 1 sprinting. I love claustrophobic. Gymnast - lightfooted helps with stealth which is meh, so it's 5 points for nimble, but it's totally worth. I would put Keen Hearing way higher. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. Expensive for what it is, but it gives cars extra storage space which is occasionally very useful. This is honestly a very great perk worth considering, especially for only 4 points. Considering that cabbages are the main/only good crop to grow you need few squares of land to grow cabbage, and if you're farming is high it just means you need to plant slightly less crops, which already doesn't take up much space. Horrible. Unfit: Very low endurance, very low endurance regeneration. Axe and long blunt boosted, 2 great weapon choices. Whether you get lucky with a tub of ice cream in the freezer or come across a couple of sticks of butter putting on long-term weight is not so hard in Project Zomboid. Speaking of underweight as a negative trait.. All rights reserved. More annoying than anything, gives you less time in the day. Note: the ratings are aimed towards new players on default settings. It's a pretty genuine tradeoff, not to mention it's annoying to listen to most game sounds muffled. Both farming and foraging are essential to long term play throughs but both those skills can easily be leveled up before you actually need them later on. Keep up the good work. The extra speed will often cause you to crash and badly injure yourself, even with cruise control. When choosing traits for a character, remember any skill (other than fitness and strength gets a permanent XP bonus (1- 75% 2- 100% 3+ 125% to that skill, as well as extra level(s.)). Not worth 1 extra point. If your character is lucky enough to live for a couple of months, claustrophobic will be completely gone. Related: Best Positive Traits in Project Zomboid Build 41. Don't have to mash the accelerator all the time. This list will show you my personal favorites and make you think of some traits you didnt consider before. The reason is because the penalty is given to you from being overweight, and not picking the trait itself. Ideally paired with fire officer so you can pick underweight and still keep athletic. Otherwise, 5 free points. I'll start with the ones I've been able to determine: Feeble Obese Out of Shape Overweight Poor eyesight (uncertain, but open to others testing) Underweight Unfit Very Underweight Weak Community provided temporary traits: There really isnt a best build for the game. I picked ugly, underweight, social anxiety, bald, oversleeper and underachiever. Some additional thoughts from me: Speed demon has an unlisted downside of making your engine rev WAY faster, and since engine noise is based on RPM this means that cars are WAY louder. Most persist. The farming skill itself isn't THAT useful though and your points will often best be spent elsewhere. Outdoorsman: I never take it. I'd love to hope in Discord and go over some mechanics of the game in debug mode while streaming if anyone is curious! Although the description of the negative trait says it decreases theplayer's vision, It appears not to affect the character in any noticeable way. Everything in this skill is either learned quickly through the foraging skill, or through a fairly easy to find magazine. How good this is, is up to you. The first one is called Positive Traits and these perks make your character stronger. The only opinion I disagree with is thin-skinned. Here is some of the best negative traits in Project Zomboid. Ive told my friends who are new to the game to take thick-skinned to start off with until theyre more comfortable to take the training wheels off. I'll pose this question to you all so that a list may be compiled: what are all the negative traits that can go away with time? Please read the following rules before commenting: Save my nickname and email in this browser for the next time I comment. Smokes have always been pretty easy to find in Project Zomboid. Dont take this. The negative effects from these traits will not last. Unfortunately most of the traits are broken, some not really working at all or doing things completely different than they say in the descriptions. So over time your panic generation decreases so it kinda goes away, also you can stand outside and click on something to sleep on and it'll work, you can also speed up time and your panic will go down, then right click sleep. I'd rate it much higher, especially for newer players as it will help prevent deaths. Due to the fact that once you are bitten you are infected anyway, I always end up grabbing thin-skinned. Each trait takes a certain amount of points away from the player's total of points, so they will also need to select negative traits to balance trait point count. For only 2 points, this trait is a steal. The +2 boosts will be insanely useful from the early to late game. The XP boost to nimble is great, as it levels extremely slowly on its own. Late, but the thing with Short Sighted in this particular guide from OP is just that at the moment it's seemingly free points, so they don't personally use it. First Aid is such a brokenly bad skill it shouldn't even be in the game currently. When coupled with Outdoorsman which removes the negative side-effects of weather you can make a pretty good character for living off the grid. Yes good call with the Thin-skinned. You can simply plant a couple more crops to get the same effect. I mostly agree with you, with differences probably coming from differences in play style. It's a metagame thing; really 5/5 because the point of a game is to be enjoyable, not literally waste your time doing literally nothing. 142. You could start at 0 or 3 and level up to 4 or 6. Only reason it's not 4 is because it's not required. Positive traits in Project Zomboid give players a specific advantage. Overweight/Underweight can be remedied with the appropriate food intake, i think you can get desensitised after killing a shit-ton of zombies - not 100% sure tho. S-Tier. Eventually Claustrophobic will wear off in Project Zomboid as well. Running XP boost will be very useful, as it can be slow to level up, but there are more important traits you can take first. Strength is difficult to level up, dont take this. Positive Traits: Speed Demon 1/5 Waste of one point.
